Lucan Sarsfields Club Notes Monday 25th January 2016
Senior Footballers are busy with their preparations for the season ahead. Challenge games are worth several training sessions. Their first was Sunday morning against Round Towers, while the game resulted in a two point loss, it was an opportunity to offer game time to 25 players. They march on with another challenge away to Navan OâMahonys Friday night next with kick off at 8pm.
Friday night last, Lucan hosted the Dublin Final of Scor's Tra Na gCeist. Congratulations to Lucanâs own team of Declan Lee, Annette Healy, Declan O'Neill and Ollie Maan. They claimed the top spot for the third year in succession. They now go on to represent Dublin in the All Ireland Finals to be held in Killarney on April 2nd.
Juvenile teams continued their preparations hosting challenge games with St Peregrines, St Annes, Ballyboden, St Vincents, Celbridge and Naas. Already there are ten games scheduled for next weekend. Competitive games are approaching fast!
Saturday night last marked the annual volunteers night at the club. This is an opportunity for the club to acknowledge the considerable commitment in time and effort by volunteers that goes into running our club. It was a well attended, simple night, with little by way of ceremony, clearly speeches are being held for the annual awards night.
In line with the TV show, Operation Transformation continues at the club every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7:30pm, in association with SDCC Sports Partnership. Not too late to join in, simply turn up before the first walk Tuesday/Thursday at 7.30pm.
Cúpla Focal Club is back on Monday night the 25th, with Seán OâLanagáin. Ocht a clog for the novices agus Naoi a clog do na daoine ag iarraidh feabhasu a chuid blas.
Bingo is on Wednesday the 27th. This is proving a very popular event are we really would like some more volunteers to allow this event move from its current fortnightly slot to a weekly one.
Set dancing continues Wednesday at 8:30pm, and the 25-Card Drive continues on Friday Night at 9pm, its open to all and new participants are always welcome.
Date for the diary - Saturday 6th February will be the Clubs Annual Awards Night.
There was no winner of this weekâs â¬2,000 Lotto draw, numbers were 1, 2, 9 and 16. Lotto sponsor was The Sign Lab. Next weekâs jackpot is â¬2,500, and the draw will be managed by team Diarmaid Dawson on Sunday night.
