Report from Leopardstown Leaps
January 17, 2016
1. To Kick Start The Event
Champagne Reception at the club
Followed by bus transfer to Leopardstown.
John Condon was well prepared for the betting with his bag of swag!
2. Main Event
Upon arrival we were given a briefing from our tipster. He walked through the race card highlighting non-runners, in-form jockeys, trainers etc. He was generally on the money, in fact bang on for the second race with no prevarication, "Our Duke" all the way.
After all their renovations, Leopardstown Racecourse has turned out to be a fantastic venue. You are never too far away from the rails, the parade ring, or the grandstand arena. As we all found out, the food is equally top class.
"Seabass" came good (thanks tipster), and many on the floor also backed "Aspen Colorado" in the last (against the tipsters advice!) to save the pockets.
3. Unusual Events...
The Moose Got thirsty.......and A Wexford man got a hand on Sam.... and canvassing?
4. The Real Competitions
Ann Marie Lavin got Best Dressed Lady (Joe having abandoned her in favor of a Liverpool match!).
21 people shared the raffle prizes with Eileen Quirke first to be pulled from the cup.
Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and a big thanks to all who supported the event.
