Lucan Sarsfields Club Notes Monday 11th January 2016

January 10, 2016

2016 is now well underway with many Senior Teams having already returned to training.

While some enthusiastic Juvenile mentors have their teams already back training, this week will mark the start for most. The new all weather pitch schedule illustrates just how tight for training facilities we are, with teams getting at most a single 45 minute slot per week. Next week we look forward to a busy car park, lots of mentors enthusiastic with noble training plans matched by players panting out of breath after a relaxed break and inevitably the shout “youz never washed the bleeding bibs!”.

The club has always been well represented in Camogie at County level. That pattern looks to continue with four Lucan players announced on Dublin’s latest Under 16 Panel. Two players with a year to spare, Laura Quinn and Aoife Mahon and two from this years U16 team Jess Mcclelland and Rhionan Withero. Best of luck them in the year ahead.

The excesses of Christmas and New Year are behind us, Operation Transformation started last week at Lucan Sarsfields in association with SDCC Sports Partnership. The opening night was exceptionally well supported and for anyone wishing to join in, its not too late, simply turn up before the first walk this Tuesday 12th at 7.30pm. See a committee member to register.

Cúpla Focal Club resumes on Monday night (25th January), with Seán O’Lanagáin. Ocht a clog for the novices agus Naoi a clog do na daoine ag iarraidh feabhasu a chuid blas.

Bingo resumes this Wednesday at 8:30pm along with Set Dancing also at 8:30pm.

25-Card Drive continues on Friday Night at 9pm, its open to all and new participants are always welcome.

“Leopardstown Leaps” is a big day at the races for Lucan Sarsfields this Sunday. The event is well subscribed, but in case there are any cancellations contact Eoin on 0862734114.

Date for the diary - Saturday 6th February will be the Clubs Annual Awards Night.

After Padraig O’Driscoll’s big win last week, there was no winner of this week’s €1,000 Lotto draw, numbers were 4, 9, 16 and 17. Lotto sponsor was Carey’s Newsagents. Next week’s jackpot is €1,000, and the draw will be managed by team Mary Flannery on Sunday night.
