The Moose v The Shadow, St Stephens Day

A wet, miserable St Stephens day. Temptation was to stay in front of the TV, or find a high stool.

But no, commitments  given and must be lived up to. So all the players turned up along with a small crowd of supporters.

The goalies did not last long, with the Moose first to take to the sideline after leaking a few. Ronnie soon followed after picking one too many from the net. 

Some footballers showed themselves to be very competent hurlers and led at the halfway point by 6:04 to 4:06.

For the second half the dual stars like Jonny McCafrey reverted to the hurling team. One by one the hurlers picked back the scores, bringing it level with just five minutes to go. But the footballers held on to win by four points.
Some weeks back this was to be a contest for the McCormack Cup, however in the end it was the Billy Malone Cup. At the presentation, Senior Football Manager Sean McCaffrey spoke to the history of the cup named after a former Club Chairman and previously used for a St Stephens Day contest between married and unmarried players.

The cup was then presented by Billy Malone's son to Alan "The Moose" McCarthy, who was too shy to say a few words in public,
