U11 (2004) Hurlers

On Friday night, it didn’t look like any sort of hurling could be played but when the sun shone early on the Saturday morning the U11 hurlers bettered the autumn sunshine with some excellent and determined hurling.

With all teams playing at home, our first group opened up proceedings in AGP with a game against St. Oliver Plunket’s Eoghan Ruaidh.  Both teams hit the ground running with early scores coming from a very mean defence.  The effort shown by all the players from the moment the sliotar was thrown in meant that our challengers from across the Liffey were on the back foot from the beginning.  That’s not to say that Oliver Plunket’s didn’t play their part in two excellent games. It was to be Lucan’s morning in the sun even though a lot of the lads played in the Schools football blitz the previous day.  Well done to all the players.

Panel: James Moloney, Luke Trunk, Jack Langan, Sam Donohoe, Mathew Ryan, Andrew Glynn, Jamie Carroll, Matthew Byrne, Conor Sheary, Jack Doyle, Eoin Hanley, Eoin Kilduff, Rian Fortune, Kian Quinn, Joey Dunne, Scott O’Sullivan, Jamie Smith, Ross Campion

In our second game the visitors were Naas, who were one of the best teams the lads have played all year.  The two Naas teams scored some excellent points and plenty of them.  With this scoring power and general play Lucan split the two games.  However despite loosing one game the lads put in a great effort against a very good team.  In the other game, I doubt if a come from behind performance will ever feel as good as this one.  The lads pulled back from a 4 / 5 point deficit with two superb team goals with great passing aplomb finished off with two fine finishes.  It was their determination and will that was the difference in the end.

It is worth noting that some lads played in two games, just showing how much the lads love the hurling!!  Well done to all our players in both games.
