U11 Hurlers back in action

U11 (2004) Hurlers

Great to be back playing was the mantra all-round in AGP on Saturday morning as our U11 hurlers took to the pitch to play Commercials and Whitehall Colmcilles.  The sun held on for as long as it could be even the torrential downpour at the end of the Whitehall games could not dampen the spirits of the lads as they continued their fine brand of hurling.

Starting off against local rivals Commercials, Sars got stuck in scoring the first of many superb goals in the first attack and showing no sign of ring rustiness since the summer break.  Following up that first goal was many a fine score but it was one particular score in the second half that got the supporting parents and players for the second game cheering.  Immediately after conceding a goal, the sliotar was pucked out and caught around the half forward area.  Without further ado, the sliotar was dispatched over the bar.  Exactly the response and that score summed up the all-round superb play from the players both in attack and defence.  Our second game was another fine display of teamwork and good hurling.  Some fine points were picked off and a determined defence gave Commercials little going forward.  I am reliably informed that the teamwork for the scores and support by all in general play put smiles on all who were there to see it

Following on from the Commercials game, Sars took on Whitehall Colmcilles.  Playing with reduced numbers some eager Sars U11s played for Whitehall to even out the numbers, so much so that one unlucky player nearly missed out on a MacDonalds because he played on (Great commitment there!!).  The hurling was no less enjoyable despite the lack of numbers as the second group of players took to the field.  The intensity was there, the high catching was there and so was the scoring and teamwork.  In both games Sars really played well and deservedly came out on top in both games.  One of the games saw a three goal spurt in about a minute as Sars pulled back a losing score line.  The dark clouds came closer but the hurling was bright and even though a downpour came the last few minutes was still great to watch.

Keep it going lads!!
