U11 (2004) Hurlers

The day was superb and so was the hurling on show from Sars U11 hurlers.  Both teams travelled to south city rivals Kilmacud Crokes and St. Judes.  In both venues the lads continued to show the “Sars style” of hurling with short passing that would rival the recent display by the Waterford Senior panel themselves.  Rumour has it that one of the mentors travelled back from Semple with all the ideas and the lads are just following the lead.

Our team playing Crokes started slowly but when they got into their stride, the hurling was exceptional.  A very finely balanced game saw Sars pull away in the end with both teams defending with vigour and moving the sliotar quickly when in possession.  The second team fell just a little short despite pulling back after conceding some early goals. Regardless though both Sars teams showed great determination and continue to improve.  Even one of mentors on holidays couldn’t wait to find out how the lads did, just showing his determination.

In Tymon Park, in a similar fashion to the Crokes game, both Sars teams played well after a slow start.  Second half displays in both games left all in a very good mood as grit and determination were the by words for a superb display.  The point scoring and general display was described as “exceptional” by one of the mentors in the usual mentor huddle in the car parks after games as we discuss the morning’s proceedings!!
