U11 (2004) Hurlers
Saturdayâs weather was made for hurling and the U11 hurlers certainly made hay whilst the sun shone in both games played. Away to Kilmacud Crokes both teams played some excellent hurling. Short passing was the order of the day as the team work and interplay led to some fine goals in the second half. In the first half a spirit Kilmacud kept the lads at bay till Sars got into their stride. The second half saw Sars pull away making the sun seem to shine more as the team looked for the open man on each occasion and could have scored more only for some excellent goal keeping from Kilmacud. The second game saw more of a flurry in the first half as both Sars and Crokes shot the lights out. Putting so much effort in the first half meant for a more cautious second half as the heat took its toll but Sars ended up on the right side of the score line. First day of the summer indeed!

At home, Sars welcomed a very determined Good Counsel team to a sun soaked AGP. In a similar fashion to the Crokes game, the lads played some interplay and I am reliably informed by some of the spectators that they saw one of best team goals in a long time as the Lucan lads swept from our own defence to attack in a few sweet passes. Good Counsel were determined in defence but Sars persevered and produced some lovely scores, so much so that âBear Gryllsâ had to be called to see if he could rescue the sliotars that were ending up in the bushes on a regular basis. Our second game was a tighter affair, which saw Sars just fall short despite owning most of the possession in the second half. All in all a good day at the office.
