U-13 Ladies Football April Report

May 06, 2015

With various Feiles and Easter breaks, the month of April was very fragmented when it came to their own actual matches. Alot of the girls were still kept busy though, playing up for both the Ladies Football and the camogie Feiles, which they all really enjoyed, and this will be great experience for them for next year. Credit to both the As and the Bs team, they remained focussed throughout, and the following is a quick update on how they fared.

U-13As

First up for the As towards the end of April was St Brigids, and after a slow start the girls settled well, and got into their grove. Credit to Brigids, they came out with all guns blazing again at the start of the second half. Once again the girls weathered the storm and ran out winners in the end.

Next up was Na Fianna in the last of the main group 7 matches. As with all of our previous games against the Mobhi Road outfit, this was an honest physical match from the start. Thankfully the girls stuck to the task and continued to clock up the scores, and get the all important 3 points.

Next up for the As is Kilmacud Crokes at home this Saturday, in the first of the 'Top 4' matches.

U-13Bs

First up for the Bs at the start of April was a home match against St Marys of Saggart. Despite settling down to a strong lead early in the second half, a few 'controversial' goals towards the end of the match, saw St Marys run out winners by the narrowest of margins.

Less than 48 hours later, the girls were out again, with a trip up the Wicklow mountains ahead of them as they faced Glencullen. It was clear that the girls were in a determined mood, as they knew they had left the 3 points behind them less than 2 days earlier. This determination was channelled perfectly, and despite playing against a stiff breeze in the second half, they ran out comprehensive winners.

Next up was the return trip out to St Marys Saggart. While the first match was a scoring feast, it was clear that both sides didn't want to give an inch in this match. After a tense affair, when at times our shooting let us know, a draw of 0-4 to 0-4, was probably a fair result, and reflective of the tight match that unfolded.

Next up for the Bs this Saturday is St James Gaels at home in match number 8 of 10.
