U11 (2004) Hurling Report
Those April showers certainly rained down heavy enough last Saturday when Lucan U11 Hurlers played two games against Ballyboden St. Endas away and at home to Cuala.
Against Cuala, Sars were not really stretched at all but despite this, the lads put in an excellent display, considering the conditions there were playing in. Playing on the juvenile pitch, Lucan showed great execution in their approach and didnât let the opposition get into any rhythm what so ever. Points and goals came along with the rain for Lucan and this was ably supported by great defending from all the lads.
Panel: Joey Dunne, Liam Farrell, Eoghan Kilduff, Scott OâSullivan, Luca Kavanagh, Adam Duffy, Eoin Hanley, Jack Behan, Conor OâNeill, Conor Hylands, Jack Doyle, Matthew Byrne, Conor King, Sam Donohoe, Jack Langan, Jamie Carroll, Sean Fenlon, Luke Trunk and Alex Kelly.
Across in Ballycullen Park, it was a similar story with the weather; however the opposition in Ballyboden proved a tougher nut to crack. The hurling from all players was exceptional and the conditions did not dampen the enthusiasm of the players or the parents watching on the side-line. Lucan stuck to their task throughout the game scoring some excellent points from play and fighting for some dirty but vital goals eventually going in level at half time in one and trailing in the other. In the second halves of both games, Lucan surged ahead taking their opportunities to score some great goals and then defending like their lives depended on it (and in one instance putting their bodies on the line in a point blank save!), for the last few minutes to keep Boden at bay. Hot chocolates all round for the lads after that display!!
