Hurling

This Our Intermediate Hurling Championship winners from 1999 enjoyed a 25-year commemorative reunion in the Club on Saturday night last. It was a very special occasion with a great gathering of former players and mentors and others who contributed hugely to hurling in the Club in that era. John Leonard, formerly of the County Board, presented awards to the players and mentors. There were poignant memories shared of those that had passed away in the interim, who were represented by family members.  It was a memorable night and thanks to all who made it happen. Special thanks to Caitlin Donnelly (granddaughter of Peter Flannery) who produced a fabulous commemorative booklet for the event.

The action on the field this week was at Minor level as the leagues come towards conclusion. Our Minor As had a big win away to Kilmacud Crokes in the league. With one back match still to play, Lucan are third in the Division 1 table, but Vincent’s have claimed the title.

The Minor Bs had a big win over Na Fianna to retain top position in Division 6 with one game to play, though Jude's are just 2 points behind with two games less played.  Our lads play Faughs away at 11am this Sunday, where a win will keep them in contention.

The Minor Cs had a good midweek win over Vincent’s but lost to St Jude's at the weekend to dent their chances of honours in Division 8.

Next weekend sees the start of the Championship for most of our adult teams. The Junior Bs and Junior Cs get the action underway on Friday night away to Erin Go Brath and Oliver Plunkett's respectively, both throw in at 7.30pm. The Intermediates open their campaign against Good Counsel/Liffey Gaels at the 12th Lock on Saturday evening at 6.15pm. On Sunday morning the Junior As are also at the 12 Lock against Kevins at 11am. Best of luck to all our teams in the championship campaign ahead.
