Healthy ClubÂ
Lucan Sarsfields Healthy Club would like to thank our club members who helped with Lucan's first Darkness into Light Walk on Saturday morning in St Catherine's Park. We had help from Lucan Sarsfields members with the setting up and clear up on the morning, stewarding and leading the walk.  As usual our club members were vital in stepping up to help a very worthwhile initiative in our local community.  Also, thank you to everyone who joined us for the walk.  Lucan village was buzzing after the walk as many businesses opened for teas and coffees to refresh the walkers.  Thank you to our members for supporting Pieta House.Â
Our healthy club committee are facilitating another safeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone), on Saturday 22nd June. Please see the link below to register.  We would encourage all mentors and parents to participate in this very important workshop.  Any questions please contact Audrey @ 087 2312560.Â
AIM: safeTALK is a 3½ hour ‘suicide alertness’ programme that prepares participants (over the age of 18 yrs.) to identify and engage with persons who may be having thoughts of suicide. Participants learn how to provide practical help by using the steps of TALK (Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep safe) and gain information on the supports and resources available locally, regionally and nationally. These specific skills are called suicide alertness and are taught with the expectation that the persons learning them will use them to help reduce suicide risk in their community.Â

Wednesday 8th May 2024      AFL4       Skerries   Â
LUCAN SARSFIELDS (0-8) 4-13 v 1-09 (0-4) SKERRIESÂ
Conor O’Flynn, Conor McGrath, Eoin Farrelly, Brendan O’Shaughness, Tony Mulqueen (0-1), Colum Rogers (0-1), Rob Ennis, Tim Bradley (0-1), Oscar Nolan, Louis Butler (0-2), Brendan Gallagher (1-2), Conor Gallagher (0-3), Oisin Ryan (1-1), Sean Casey (2-2), Conor ShearyÂ
SubsÂ
Shane Kerins, Cian Gaire, Dean Walsh, Donie Smith, Oran TullyÂ
One might be tempted comparing the half- and full-time scores, to think that an onshore wind might have been a factor. It wasn’t. On a perfect evening for football in sunny Skerries, the difference between the two halves was that we managed to plug in the radar at half time. Hard to quite imagine that having scored 4 goals, we spent the drive home trying to count the opportunities for green flags that had gone abegging!Â
Started with strongest line up. Perhaps the only possible line up. Had 5 bodies on the line, but Donie and Oran were carrying knocks, and Dean was returning after extended stint teaching the good people of Limerick how to kick ball. Shane finally got a 2nd half run between the sticks, as did Cian; who did a whole lot more running than Shane! Going to need everyone available for some tough opposition over the next month.Â
Lucan started the game well. Louis has been working on adding points to his undoubted ability to carry ball, and he showcased that with a calm opening score. Another young fella, Tim, repeated the dose. Skerries opened their account with a breakaway point, but Conor G found his groove and notched 3 scores in quick succession. Skerries were staying in the game. Just about. Breaking fast off turnover ball, and although they were similarly guilty of wasting opportunities. A couple of simple frees blasted wide, were particularly notable. Even more notable from a Lucan perspective was Colm’s signature point just on half time. One of those that has management with head in hands. Right footed from out on the right touchline. No chance! But Colm knew different. Sailed between the posts. Â
At half time both sets of management would have focussed on a bit of calmness in the final third of the pitch. Perhaps the Lucan contingent was paying closer attention, as from the throw in Lucan worked the ball forward and Brendan was on hand to slot the ball into the corner. A sucker punch for Skerries. 90 secs later Sean doubled their pain, when an excellent ball from Oscar, allowed Sean to turn his man, and up popped another green flag.Â
 Â
The contest was over at this stage. Skerries kept going to the end and managed to sneak in between full back line and Conor, in goal, to get a goal of their own, but Sean immediately responded with his second. This time a cracker across the goal into the top corner. Oisin had worked hard throughout, so his late 1-1 was a fair reward.Â
A splendid defensive performance. Skerries may not have offered the toughest test of the year, but they had pace, and although stretched on occasion, we never really looked like being broken. Eoin was again in top form on the edge of the square, with Conor Mc & Brendan either side. Rob and Tony were a good screen across the middle, and the launchpad for much of Lucan’s attacks. Tony scored the final point of the evening. Well taken finish to the match. Rob didn’t score this week. He thought he’d take it handy this week. Â
Last but not least. Conor Sheary was outstanding. He really was everywhere. Up and down the pitch. A few weeks back he was on the subs bench. Cannot tally up how often he swept in and broke up Skerries attacks. No pressure ahead of tougher assignments!Â
Â
JuvenileÂ
Well done to the U15A Hurlers who won the Féile Division 1 Shield Final over the weekend.Â
Â
Unfortunately, it wasn't to be for our U15B Hurlers who lost out to Castleknock in the Féile Division 5 Cup Final. Hard luck lads.Â

CountyÂ
Congratulations to Abby Shiels & Paul Casey (Ladies football) and Daire Newcombe (football) on their respective Leinster Championships with the Dubs over the weekend. Â
Congratulations to Aoife Mckearney, Emma Flanagan, Amy Gorman, Laura Sharkey, Mia Farrell and the Dublin Senior Camogie team on their win over Offaly at the weekend. This win sees them into the Leinster Final this Saturday 18th May against Kilkenny. Match details to follow.Â
It was great day for Lucan as we had so many players on the team including both the goalkeeper, Amy, and the sub keeper, Mia. A great opportunity for Mia to tog out for the Seniors while still a Minor and certainly a first for the club!Â
 Â
Well done to Meabh Maloney, Sofia Dowdall and Holly Whelan who represented the Dublin U14 camogie team over the weekend against Kildare.Â
Best of luck to Mark, Killian, Oscar, Senan and the Dublin Minor Hurlers who face Wexford this Saturday 18th of May. The match is throwing in at 1pm in Parnell Park, all support welcome.Â
Good luck to Sam Curran who is representing the club on the Dublin Celtic Challenge team in their semifinal this weekend.Â
Best of luck to the Dublin U20 Hurlers tonight in their Leinster semifinal. Particularly best of luck to the Lucan lads on the panel, Cathal Kennedy, Jack Behan, Liam Garrigan and Massimo Pappalardo.Â
