Lucan Sarsfields Captains Day 2023 

We held our Captains Day this year in Carton House, a fantastic golf course in perfect conditions. It was probably our only outing this year where sun cream was required instead of umbrellas. We had 50 golfers on the day. Thank you to all society member this year and our visitors who also played on the day. Special thanks go to the organising committee with Secretary Mark McDonnell and Mick Roche ensuring smooth running of the day. We would also like to thank our sponsor Eamonn McShea of Greenday Environmental for sponsoring each of the society events this year. It was also great to see Eamonn in the winner’s enclosure picking up a prize on the day. The overall Captains Prize winner was a well deserving Stephen Barrett who shot an impressive 41 points on the day. Stephen was delighted to lift the Jack Butler Memorial trophy. Hurling

Minor Hurling B Championship: Lucan 1-14, Stars Of Erin 0-11.

Lucan Junior B hurlers maintained their push toward the knockout stages of championship with a hard fought win over Stars Of Erin at 12th Lock on Sunday. On a day more suited to water sports than field sports, the home side coped better with the very wet underfoot conditions. . After a few early wides from both teams, two free from Paddy Kennedy settled Lucan nerves. Both teams traded minor scores until the all important score came when Finan Breen finished to the net following good work by Ray Hernan and Ross Campion . In such wet conditions a solid defense is important and for Lucan Justin Myler was solid in goals , Alan Flanagan, Don Hassey and Pierce Farrell provided effective cover in the full back line and Tiernan Swords and Jack McCarthy won a lot of ball in half back line which left Lucan enjoying a 6 point half time lead. With conditions deteriorating in the second half it was a real dog fight. Discipline was critical at this stage and glad to say Lucan seemed to maintain their's better than the opposition who were frustrated by some referring decisions. Lucan converted the chances afforded to them from the lack of discipline and ran out 6 points winners. Next up and away fixture with group leaders Craobh Chiarain.

We have now reopened our Academy all children are welcome and the good news is that new members charge is only €20 for the rest of the year. Anyone interested in joining can contact Alan.

Lotto

No Winner of last week’s Lotto Prize of €3,800.
