Team News
Plenty of Inter county activity and colleges activity this week with Sean Harkness and Evin Dowling in the DCU panel for Freshers Hurling. Dublin Intermediate Camogie, Chloe O’Connor & Ellen Dunphy. Dublin Senior Camogie had Emma Flannagan in midfield.
AHL1 v Ballinteer St John:
The game was moved from Marley Park to the AWP at Broadford due to pitch closure in Marley.
The game didn't start as Lucan would have liked , with the concession of a goal very early on, but the team worked themselves back into the game with some good scores from Chris O'Leary , Kevin Fitz and Donie Flannery with the highlight a point from full forward Colm Keenan from the sideline. By half-time Lucan had pulled 3 pts clear on a score of 0-12 to 1-6. The second half started similar to the first half , but Lucan weren't able to shake a dogged BSJ performance. Some timely scores from Colm Walsh and some long range frees from Chris O'Leary coupled with some good defensive play from the likes of Rory Stapleton ,Paul Claffey and Eoghan Seery helped keep BSJ at bay.
Lucan Sarsfields - Seanie McCllelland , Philip Smith , Paul Rigney, Paul Claffey , Matt McCaffrey (1pt) , Johnny McCaffrey , Rory Stapleton , Rob Ward ( 2pts) , Cian McHugh , Kevin Fitzgerald( 2pts), Chris O'Leary (7pts - 5 frees), Colm Walsh (3pts) , Donie Flannery(3pts) , Colm Keenan (2pts) , Charlie Keher (1pt).
Subs: Eoghan O'Conghaile ( for Colm Keenan 35 mins) , Eoghan Seery ( for Philip Smith 25mins) , Evin Dowling ( for Charlie Keher 50mins), Niall Stagg , Daniel O'Neill, Paddy Ward.
Minor A Camogie v Kilmacud Crokes:
Lucan Minors got their Division 1 League campaign off to a flying start with a great win over Crokes.
After a few days of heavy rain home venue was offered to Lucan, AGP3 was in fine condition and the girls took full advantage and raced into a six point lead, before Kilmacud got on the scoreboard. This was followed by a point a piece, bringing the half time score to 0-7 to 0-2.
In the second half the Lucan girls continued to pile on the pressure, running out worthy winners on a score line of 2-10 to 0-4.
Team: Aisling Colfer, Erica Collins, Sinead Farrell, Mia Rooney, Leah Dunne, Niamh Roche, Erin Jones, Lily Rooney, Ellie Gaire, Orla Morrissey, Kellie O’Brien, Cathy Cosgrove, Aoibheann Stokes, Caoilfhionn Sheary.
Juvenile Section / Coiste na nÓg:
U11 Ladies football hosted four teams from Clontarf on Saturday. All of the girls worked hard, showing great skill and great teamwork. Our thanks to the Clontarf girls for travelling across and presenting a great challenge in some great games of football. It was lovely to see so many girls out playing sport and having fun on a Saturday afternoon.
U14A Camogie team played their first league match away to St Vincent's. Vincent's were first on the scoreboard, Lucan trailed by a goal at half. The second half was a big half for lucan, they applied the pressure to Vincent's back line only to be denied by Vincent's goal keeper on 3 occasions. Final score Vincent's 1-6 to Lucan 0-6
Next up is a home match against Ballinteer on Sunday 20th March.
Our thanks to Alan and all the Mentors who attended our Introduction to Coaching session during the week. Keep practising the Jab lift at home.
