Juvenile training in the club is set to return on April 26th, as long as public health and government guidelines continue to be observed.

Training slots and locations are being finalised and we will notify all in plenty of time.

All mentors and helpers should in the meantime familiarise themselves with the information contained on the Mentor Downloads page.

Links to the rules, drills and skills can be found in Coaching Corner

The U14 Hurlers Skills Challenge has attracted attention from clubs all over the country;  Cork, Galway, Kilkenny, Kildare Offaly, Tipperary and of course in Dublin too.

Congratulations to the winners on the Fantasy Golf competition organised to raise funds for the Senior Hurlers, the organisers will be in touch to arrange delivery of the prizes.

Club Membership is now open via the ClubForce app or on the club website. New Members are always welcome, bear in mind that all players must be registered before we return to play/train.

Last Man Standing to feature next in GAA Museum Book Club

The April book choice for the GAA Museum Book Club is Last Man Standingby Christy O’Connor. In this highly praised book O’Connor gains unique access to some of Ireland’s most famous hurling goalkeepers. He asks what makes them tick and why would anyone be mad enough to take up the loneliest position on the pitch? He reveals their drive, triumphs and failures. See here for more information.

The Lidl Ireland Level The Playing Field fundraising initiative has now closed, Ladies Football in the club stand to win a €5000 cash prize, well done to all who participated.

Foróige Careers Seminars - Career Coaching Clinics will allow young people to ask mentors questions about professions they may be considering for the future. Many young people have missed out on work experience and will be considering different subjects that will guide their career choices. The aim of the Clinic is to demonstrate that career paths can vary and to allow young people an opportunity to  hear different professional experiences from the same field. Real stories in an interactive platform that will inform, encourage and inspire. You can register through Eventbrite at  https://foroigecareers.eventbrite.com

Each food growing pack includes:

  • seeds for beetroot, carrots, salad leaves, peas and tomatoes;
  • a guide to help grow them and
  • a postcard and gift tags to help share them.

Stress Control - As the HSCNI or HSE can’t deliver our Stress Control classes in the community just now, Dr Jim White will, instead, live-stream the classes until June, free-of-charge. All you need to successfully complete this class is to watch each of the six sessions, read the booklets and use the relaxation and mindfulness. You can find the sessions on YouTube. Further details on dates and where to find the videos can be found at the following links;

 Suicide Prevention Skills Online Training - START training is an introduction to suicide prevention training and a precursor to safeTalk and ASIST training.  This training is for over 18s and is free of charge.  For more information about this training or if you wish to apply to complete the programme, please email lucanhealthyclub@gmail.com

START is a Level 2 alertness skills programme. Whilst not as advanced as safeTALK or the two-day intervention skills workshop ASIST, it does, however, provide the opportunity for participants to:

-        Become more comfortable talking about suicide

-        Feel more confident in keeping a person safe in times of distress

-        Be able to support members of the community, friends and co-workers

-        Build personal professional skills

-        Have peace of mind knowing the readiness to help is obtained

-        Gain awareness of the supports and services that are available.
