Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Hall of Fame Award
Each year, the club recognises the long term work that an individual has put into the club and enrols them in the Hall of Fame. This year, Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club is delighted to announce that the 2020 enrolee into the Hall of Fame is Peter Flannery.
Peter has been involved in Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club since he moved to Lucan in the late 1970's. His involvement with under age teams over the years means it is safe to say that there are numbers of lads who would not have become hurlers but for Peter and his dedication to the game. Club Person of the year in 1995, a mentor to the Hurlers who won the Miller Shield in 1996 the first adult silverware in 20 years, Peter was part of the Intermediate Hurlers management team who won the Corn Fogarty, Corn Céitinn and Keogh Cup in 1998, and, the League and Championship double in 1999 which earned Senior status for the Club. Not one to rest on his laurels, Peter was also part of the management team for the U21's in 1999/2000 and with the Junior hurlers. It has been said that Peter has the score and the scorers for every match still! His involvement in the Club was not limited to hurling and he was (and still is) a big supporter of camogie. Off the field, Peter was part of the Social Committee who organised Saturday night entertainment in the old Clubhouse for many years. There are few in the Club who have not heard of Peter Flannery, a very deserving recipient of this year's Hall of Fame award.
