Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes
April 08, 2020
We hope everyone continues to stay at home, safe, and, following the HSE guidelines. Lucan Healthy Club, together with our clubs main partner Supervalu, are assisting with the community delivery service, please see the Club website for more information on the initiative and also information for volunteering, http://www.lucansarsfields.ie/content_page/10035503/. Lucan Healthy Club would like to thank our members who have volunteered, for their ongoing support in helping the elderly and vulnerable in our community. In the past week we have helped those in need with shopping deliveries and a friendly chat over the phone. There is an extensive list of volunteers who have offered help and we will work through the list as requests for help are received.
Some things to do while we stay at home to flatten the curve: Check out the weekly Crossword puzzle from the Cupla Focal Group posted on the website, http://www.lucansarsfields.ie/content_page/341969/, suitable for all.
Easter Monday at 7pm, there will be another Online Quiz – again open to all, we will post the questions out on social media.
It is a good time for all mentors that have underage players on their teams to ensure they have completed the short surveys requested by the Games committees. A reminder also that e-vetting is due if you have not been vetted since January 2016. See the mentors area of the website for more details.
In the absence of games and fixtures, the following article from the Drogheda Argus, dated 10 September, 1904, was discovered during an online search. Could it be relevant to ‘The Lucan Sarsfields’ winning the Intermediate Football League in that year, with a few players from Balbriggan Wanderers on the team??
While we are requested to stay at home, it would be a good time to go through any stored paperwork, scrapbooks, programmes and photos, whether stored in the attic, shed, garage, etc. of anything related to Lucan Sarsfields. Use a camera-phone to take pictures of the items and send in an email to lucansarsfieldspro@gmail.com. For photos and newspaper clippings, please let us know the date of the article and if possible the names of any persons in the picture. A lot of work was done in a similar fashion for the club’s 125 Book, but maybe there was some articles missed at the time, and it is a great opportunity to compile this information for future generations to enjoy!
