Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes
March 19, 2020
Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club has made the premises and its facilities available to the HSE to allow covid-19 drive-through testing to take place. It is important to note that during this time, all areas of the club and club grounds are closed and off limits to everyone, except the HSE and their staff.
Following the Taoiseach’s address to the nation on St Patricks Day, it is likely that the coronavirus/Covid-19 emergency could extend well into the summer. This will place tremendous pressure on individuals and families in many ways, mentally, physically and/or financially. As a club we may be help with some of these burdens in some small way, for example, Lucan Healthy Club volunteers are offering support to anyone who needs help negotiating some of the online information from the HSE and Gov.ie websites. The GAA and your club will continue to play a role in enhancing community spirit and assisting those most in need.
To ensure our volunteers achieve maximum impact, the Community & Health Department in Croke Park is liaising with the Department of Health/HSE and the Department of Rural and Community Development to identify priority actions likely to best assist the most vulnerable within our community. These will all adhere to the most up-to-date COVID-19 public health advice, including social distancing, social and personal hygiene, etc. The department will keep all Healthy Clubs updated with this information.
IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION: The HSE has asked that we communicate to as many people as possible a change in the way the public is being asked to make contact. If someone suspects that they have symptoms, please visit www.hse.ie or telephone the HSE LIVE directly on 1850 24 1850
From time to time, there will be occasions when help and assistance is needed, both at the club, and within the community. If you are in a position to volunteer, please send an email to LucanHealthyClub@gmail.com or visit our website http://www.lucansarsfields.ie
The most important thing at this time is to follow all the expert advice given by the HSE and/or Department of Health and communicated via TV and Radio News bulletins, national newspapers and official websites. Do not rely on social media for information, however well-meaning it may be. The following are trusted points of information via Twitter @HSELive, @CMOireland, @publichealthni
The following website is the primary source in Ireland for public health information regarding Covid 19: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html
Although not a priority at the moment, as time goes on there will be changes to the scheduling for our Gaelic Games competitions, and some may also be cancelled. Once received from the relevant county boards, this information will be passed on to the club mentors to inform their teams. Remember, until we have been officially told that it is safe to do so, no games, team events or training sessions are to take place.
