U8
Our U8 girls had a little football blitz on Sunday morning where they played teams from Foxrock Cabinteely and Ranelagh Gaels. It was a lovely way to end their first term. The girls played well, demonstrating all the skills they have learned over the weeks. Wishing all our U8 girls a lovely summer break.
Under 9 Go Games Blitz Sunday 23rd June
VENUE : St. Catherine's Park
The Under 9's played their end of season blitz today at home in St. Catherine's Park. They played against teams from Ranelagh Gaels, St. Mary's, Saggart and Erin go Bragh. The girls worked really hard and kept fighting for the ball during the different games. Each game came with its own challenges which the girls adapted to and overcame. There was some great tackling and scoring to be seen. The girls have shown great improvement in their skill levels since they returned to training in January and are looking forward to matches resuming later in the year.
U10
The U10 girls played at home against Saggart and Round Towers. The girls once again showed great team spirit. Some fine scores and good defensive displays.
U11s
Lucan U11's fielded 4 teams of 9 aside in the end of season blitz, We were in a group with St Mark's Tallagh and St Bridgets, and St marks hosted the blitz,The matches were fast moving, with end to end drama. The matches against St Marks were a bit more physical that our girls were used off, but once Lucan got on the ball, they showed off their brilliant football skills, with sharp hand passes, and tackfull points taken from play The Lucan girls positive team spirit carried them over the line.
Juvenile Football report
A very successful week in the Juvenile football section this week.
The U-12A team were away to St. Pat’s Donabate on Monday evening.
June 17th, Donabate
U12 Division 1 Football League
Lucan 9-9
St Patricks 1-9
Lucan got back to winning ways against a strong St Patricks side on a lovely summers evening in Donabate. The score line does not fully reflect the competitive nature of the game as the Lucan lads were forced to fight to the end by a plucky St Pats side and also have Evan Flynn to thank for an excellent goalkeeping display, including an excellent second half penalty save. While St Patricks competed well the Lucan boys defended well & produced a brilliant counter attacking display to carve through the opposition defence for some very well worked goals. Also noteworthy was the work rate of the Lucan forwards and a few of their blocks and turnovers from St Pats attempted clearances resulted in Lucan scores. With Lucan in command on the scoreboard along with the rotation of our 4 subs, the game became a bit disjointed in the second half but Lucan withstood the St Pats resurgence and finished off strongly for a good win. Well done all.
Lucan team; E Flynn, M Byrne, C McCormick, C Healy (0-1), K Costello, J Dunne (1-0), G Lynch, D Taaffe (1-1), O Brennan (1-0), C Gavin (1-0), P O'Connor (2-2), M O'Brien (0-3), D Horan (2-0), C Reilly, K Quinn, A Leonard, J Mills (1-2)
This team then played their second game of the week on Saturday.
Saturday, June 22nd,
St Catherines Park
U12 Division football league
Lucan 7-9
Cuala 1-6
Lucan u12As made it two wins in a week with a good win over a competitive Cuala team in St Catherines Park. Cuala started stronger showing more urgency and desire to win their battles and having converted this dominance into scores Cuala led by 1-4 to 1-1 after 15 mins, with a great goal from attacking corner back Cian Mc Cormick helping to keep Lucan in touch. A few positional switches and substitutions helped Lucan gain some momentum which was reflected on the scoreboard after goals from Killian Costello & Michael O'Brien and a great Gavin Lynch point helped Lucan to recover to lead at h/t by 3-4 to 1-4. Lucan continued their good work into the second half and although Cuala kept working hard the Lucan team play and swift attacking moves led to further scores including goals from Patrick O Connor & Oscar Brennan and a few Jack Mills pointed frees. A positive end to the first half of the season for this team with some excellent individual displays, from Conor Healy, Karl Quin and others, but more importantly a great team effort after a slow start. Well done all players on a great effort and a positive end to the year.

Venue: St. Catherine’s Park
Opposition: St Bridgets.
Competition: U.12 Football League, Division 11
Final Score: Lucan Sarsfields 3: 10-15, St Bridgets: 1-03
To celebrate their birthday today Callum and Liam Mitchell were made co-captains for the match! The warm weather conditions seemed to suit the u-12 boys football team as they produced their best game of the year. However this display did not come totally out of the blue as they have shown encouraging signs of improvement, even in defeat. From the throw-in this Lucan team went about their business with gusto, skill and the right amount of aggression. All the hard work put in on the training pitch was beginning to pay dividends in this match. Give and go, working the ball to the man in a better position and a good first touch enabled Lucan race into a healthy half time lead. Bridgets did not lie down and they kept Sarsfields honest by troubling the umpire with a number of nice scores.
Lucan started the second half with the same application and attitude as the first. In the tackle the Lucan lads turned over plenty of ball without the concession of simple frees. They also were hungrier for the ball then their opponents driving their opponents back with wave after wave of attacks. The team ethic was evident as in the main the Lucan players gave the boy in the best position the ball. The backs also diligently stuck to their task while acting as the starting point for attack. Well done to all our u12s boys keep up the training and enjoy the summer. As mentioned above today was our last football match before the summer break. Also, thanks to all the parents for their continued support.

Date: 22/6/2019
Venue: Popintree Park

Competition: U13 Division 2
Final Score: Lucan Sarsfields 9-13 Ballymun 5-7
The fifth round of the U13 football leagues was played was played in Popintree Park. The Lucan lads tore into this game with two early goals from Adam Rock and Gavin Collins, setting the tone of fast attacking football for the afternoon. Ballymun rallied and scored some goals themselves to really come into the game but Lucan continued to score and at the break led by three goals, 6-3 to 3-3.
Playing with wind advantage in the second half, Lucan continued to dominate and some excellent team play led to a flurry of scores from Charlie McHugh, Robert Keher, Michael O’Brien and Callum Keane, which ensured Lucan extended their lead and never looked in any danger.
In defence Massimo Pappalardo, Reece Kelly and Callum Morris were excellent which restricted the Ballymun attack.
This was the final league game before the summer break and three successive wins leave the team in a strong position in the league table.

Final Score: Lucan Sarsfield’s C 14.8, Castleknock C 3.8
Another important win for this hard-working team who were missing some key players.
We also had players returning from injury who are still not fully match fit.
With the help of a few other players and good use of the subs the team were too strong for the visitors who had won the previous meeting. The visitors did score a well taken penalty in the 2nd half but the work rate of Lucan ensured that much of the play was in the opposition half.

Final Score Lucan Sarsfields 5-08 Ballyboden St Endas
Lucan’s first game since the Championship loss was against the team that beat them in the semi final. With the Junior Cert occupying 10 of the lads’ minds for the last couple of weeks, it was nice to get out and play some football. Playing on the Junior Cert, Lucan learnt their lesson and come home with an A! Shipping an early goal to the very first attack, the lads knuckled down and played their own brand of possession football. Linking with runners coming from deep, Lucan attacked with menace clawing back the early 1-01 deficit point by point going in 2 points to the good at half time. As the first half started with a goal so did the second except this time it was Lucan that scored on their first attack and followed it up with two more in quick succession. However, the defence did their own share of good wood allowing only four points in the second half as Lucan ran out with a 12 point victory. Here’s hoping that the results later on in the summer will be as good. Special mention to our U14 club members who played with us on the day and knitted seamlessly into the set up. Thanks to the lads and U14 mentors for the assistance during the holidays.
