Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes
June 03, 2019
Massive congratulations to our newest League Champions, our Jnr 3 Camogie team with an unbelievable one point win in the Final during the week. Also lots more League titles added in Juvenile Camogie as well with both U14 teams and the U16B team all securing league titles over the weekend.
Our Senior Hurlers picked up their first point of their league campaign with a draw vs Judes, 2-14 apiece. Unfortunately our 15AHurlers, Jnr A Hurlers and both Ladies football teams all lost out midweek, the 15A hurlers did bounce back with a good away win vs Kilmacud Crokes, match reports below. During the Bank Holiday weekend our U11 and U12 hurlers enjoyed a wonderful blitz out in Swords, a big thanks to Fingallians for hosting the event. Best of luck to our U14 Feile Hurlers who head for national Féile this coming weekend, we hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.
Well done to Chris Crummey and the Dublin Senior Hurlers who beat Carlow and have now have a massive game vs Galway in 2 weeks time at home in Parnell Park. Hard luck to Clara Finn who was part of the Dublin LF U14 squad that lost out in the All Ireland series. Good to see Jake Rooney back in blue at the weekend as the Dublin Minor footballers had a good win vs Wicklow, the now face Westmeath in the Leinster Semi Final on June 22ND. Best of luck to Darren Gavin as he prepares for the Leinster semi-final with the Dublin Senior footballers.
Our deepest sympathies to the Twamley and Crosbie Families on their recent losses.

Juvenile Hurling Report
Tuesday May 28th Home vs BBSE
Lucan 2-15 BBSE 4-10
A top of the league clash versus the unbeaten BBSE on a lovely calm spring evening. Things didn’t stay calm for long. BBSE came out of the traps with real intent. Both sides traded scores with BBSE leading after 15 minutes 1-3 to 0-5, but then BBSE hit a purple patch and hit 2-4 in the last 10 minutes of the first half to lead by 3-7 to 0-6 at half time. The half time team talk was frank and honest. We needed to up our work rate and stop the long delivery into the BBSE full forward line at source. Lucan came out like a team possessed in the 2nd half, dominating proceedings, getting the defecit down to two points on 28th minutes. Lucan had 3 puck outs in the 2nd half versus Boden with 14, but despite this dominance we narrowly missed reeling them in with Joey Dunne getting us to within a point with a well taken goal from a free with the last puck of the game. We were left questioning the lack of extra time for injuries in the 2nd half but the truth be told we fell too far behind with a below par performance in the first half.
Team Cathal Doody, Kian Quinn, Eoin Kilduff, Jamie Smith, Joey McSweeney, Jack Behan, Michael Cunningham, Liam Garrigan, Rossa Daly, Conor ‘Haggis’ Hyland, Joey Dunne, Davey Mulqueen, Jack Doyle, Rian Fortune, Gareth Kennedy.

Thursday May 30th Away vs Kilmacud
Lucan 2-16 BBSE 2-11
Mental Strength was required here after our loss to BBSE 48 hours earlier. We knew we needed to start well. We dominated proceedings in the early proceedings but could not score and found ourselves 0-4 down after 4 minutes. We managed to hit 11 wides in the first half but somehow managed to drag ourselves into the game leading by 0-9 to 1-5 at the break, the Crokes goal coming from a fortuitous strike that bobbled over our line. Our shot selection improved in the 2nd half with scores from 6 different players, including a peach of a point from long range from our centre back Jack Behan.
