Juvenile Football Report
Both or the U-16 football teams were in championship action this weekend.
The U-16 B footballers took on Man O War in the quarter final of the U-16 Football C Championship in AGP0 on Saturday. Lucan were slow to start and struggled against the wind. Man O War put together some good moves and scored heavily. The second half started in a similar fashion and Lucan were well behind as the game entered the final quarter. This Lucan team never give up though and some pressure yielded a couple of goals and some points to eventually narrow the gap to one point. However, Man O War scored a breakaway point and sealed the win on a score line of 2-15 to 3-10. A great effort though by this team though so well done to them and the management team.
Lucan Sarsfields U16A vs St. Catherines
Lucan Sarsfield’s U16A footballers played their A Shield Quarter Final against St. Catherines in AGP3 on Saturday. Lucan came out strong and dominated the match from the start. Although playing against the wind in the 1st half they finished 1-11 to 0-2 points up at half time. The goal coming from a well converted penalty by Paul Tuite. Lucan maintained their momentum in 2nd half, piling the pressure on St. Catherines. Things got a bit tense and the fouls mounted up with a number of yellow cards issued to St. Catherines. Things settled back to standard proceedings for this match and Lucan went on to finish convincing winners. Next out is the Shield Semi against old rivals Cuala on 10th November.
Final score: Lucan Sarsfields 3-17 : St. Catherines 1-6
Lucan Team: Aidan O'Neill, Alec Birnie, Ben O'Toole, Brendan Ruddy, Charlie Keher, Cian Duffy, Colm Walsh, Derek Cahill, Eoin Power, Evin Dowling, Finan Breen, Jack O’Donnell, Mark Gormley, Oisin Ryan, Oisin Twamley, Riain Carey, Paul Tuite, Sean Casey

Well done to all the teams competing at the weekend.
Adult Hurling Report
Lucan seniors lost to Cuala in the last regular league game and now face Faughs in a relegation play-off. Better news for the Junior Bs who progress to the championship semi-final after a good quarterfinal win over neighbours Commercials- match reports below.
Next weekend sees the U21s open their campaign with a quarterfinal at home to St Vincent's on Saturday, while on Sunday the Minor B's host Na Fianna in the championship semi-final.
AHL1. Lucan Sarsfields 1-12 Cuala 0-22.
Securing Division 1 status for next year was the prize on offer for both teams in this late season league clash. In the end, Cuala proved too strong and prevailed comfortably, leaving Lucan with a relegation play-off against Faughs.
The story looked very different at half-time when Lucan lead by 3pts after a storming first half performance when they matched the outgoing All-Ireland champions with great intensity and drive while playing simple direct Hurling. Lucan's goal came from a penalty expertly dispatched by Tommy Somers just before half time. Before that, Lucan had recorded some decent scores from play through Paul Crummey (2), Matt McCaffrey, Ronan Smith and a long distance effort from Chris Crummey. While both Ciaran Dowling and Somers were accurate from frees.
The second half was a very different affair as Cuala began to exert control and Lucan ran out of steam. Cuala had levelled by the 40th minute and then pulled away with a series of points from play. Lucan managed just two points, both from frees, in that second half. Luke Walsh, the McCaffrey brothers and Paul Crummey were most effective on the day for the Lucan team, who will take positives from the determined first half performance.
Lucan Team/Scores: C Murray, B Aird, P Rigney, L Walsh, J McCaffrey, C Crummey (0-1), J Bellew, R Smith (0-1), M McCaffrey (0-1), P Kelly, K Fitzgerald, C Dowling (0-3f), E Allen, T Somers (1-4, 1-0pen, 0-4f), P Crummey (0-2). Subs introduced; D Flannery, E O'Conghaile, R Ward.
JEHC Q'Final: Commercials 1-8 Lucan Sarsfields 2-13.
Lucan's third adult team put in a good performance to comfortably beat Commercials and progress to the championship semi-final. Commercials had the better of the early exchanges and got the first two scores but Lucan soon found their rhythm and matched score for score, before a goal from Aidan Glover put Lucan ahead just before half time. Lucan hit a real purple patch early in the second half and opened up a decisive lead with some nicely taken points and a superbly finished goal from Killian Boylan after some great interplay by the Lucan forwards. Commercials battled to the end and got a goal from a penalty as full time approached but it was too little too late and Lucan held on for a comfortable win. James Cavanagh and Ian Fitzgerald were outstanding in a very solid Lucan defence. The midfield combination of Anto McNulty and Adam Finnerty worked hard throughout while Alan Murphy, with some very incisive runs, was most prominent in the forwards. Ciaran Keane was very accurate from frees scoring seven in all, and one from play also.
Lucan Team/Scorers: E Gately, S Stapleton, J Cavanagh, I Fitzgerald, L Murphy, P Fagan, S O'Keeffe, A Finnerty, A McNulty (0-1), K Boylan (1-1), S Donohue, C Keane (0-8, 0-7f), D Kavanagh, A Glover (1-0), A Murphy (0-2). Subs introduced: J O'Connor, E Kyne.
