Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes Sunday 22nd July
July 22, 2018
Senior footballers had a disappointing loss away to St Maurs last Wednesday night, however they remain in contention for a league semi-final spot. They are at home vs Thomas Davies next Saturday, the 28 July. Disappointment also for our Senior hurlers today losing to Faughs away, they play St Vincent’s at home on Wednesday night. A good mid-week win last week for our Minor Hurlers vs Thomas Davis. And a good result for the Jnr B ladies footballers who opened their Championship with a win vs NGÓ during the week. They play again on Wednesday in the club. The 15B footballers had a hard fought one point win on Tuesday night last vs Naomh Fionnbarra, which put them top of the league.
Lots of Lucan players on Dublin camogie duty last weekend. Some good results, well done to all players and management.
Seniors ( Ali Twomey, Mairi Moynihan, Emma Flanagan and Orla Beagan) drew with Tipperary and have qualified for the Quarter Final.
Premiers (Emma O’Flynn and Emer Keenan) beat Roscommon and made it two from two

Adult Hurling Report
Disappointing weekend for adult hurlers with both Seniors and Junior As suffering heavy league defeats. Seniors lost out to Faughs in Tymon Park (match report below) while Junior A's went down to Ballinteer St Johns in Marley Park.
Both teams have the chance to regain momentum quickly with mid-week league action coming up, Seniors host Vincent's on Wednesday night, while the Junior As play Whitehall on Tuesday night, both at 12th Lock. The Junior B's also have a busy week ahead, playing at home to Castleknock on Monday night and away to Commercials on Thursday night. Meanwhile the Minor A's had a good league win over Thomas Davis midweek.
AHL1 Faughs 3-17 Lucan Sarsfields 0-15.
A young Lucan senior team were found wanting against a more experienced Faughs side who comfortably claimed the points at Tymon Park. Lucan started well but then Faughs got momentum with a goal from a dubious penalty and never looked back. They quickly followed up with a second goal and lead by 2-7 to 0-9 at half time, despite Lucan having had the benefit of a nice breeze. Lucan were down to 14 after Ciaran Dowling saw red early in the second half, and while they fought well for a period to narrow the gap, Faughs countered with a third goal. Lucan had reduced the gap to five with about ten minutes remaining but were chasing the game and Faughs finished much stronger as Lucan lost their shape. Overall, it was a disappointing morning and one to be forgotten quickly.
Lucan Team/Scorers: C Murray, P Claffey, J Bellew, R Lambert, R Stapleton (0-1), C Crummey (0-2), L Walsh, C Dowling (0-4, 0-3f), R Ward, E Allen, R Smith (0-1), E O'Conghaile, P Ward (0-2), T Somers (0-4, 0-1f), CJ Smith (0-1). Subs E Reynolds, E Seary, K Roche.
