"Ladies Night In" a fantastic success

June 12, 2018

Lucan Healthy Club recently hosted the first “Ladies Night In” in Lucan Sarsfields, in conjunction with Boots Liffey Valley. All proceeds from the night were for Breast Cancer Awareness.

With the first eager attendees arriving before 8pm, it wasn’t long before every seat in the house was occupied and everyone had a glass in hand.  Al Curtis took on the role of compere for the night and despite being outnumbered by ladies 100 to 1 he pulled off the role very effectively !

There were informative and entertaining talks from Eithne Ryan, nurse; Niamh Kenny, physiotherapist; as well as information sessions from Boots staff, Shannon on skincare and Tina on vitamins and supplements.

Ellen and Emma were available to do shellac nails with donations to the great cause.

Next came the raffle, with a huge selection of fantastic raffle prizes to be won. The committee wish to thank all those who donated raffle prizes – Boots Liffey Valley, Derek Downes Eurospar Limerick, Tweedle Craft, ABC Gym, YStyle,  O’Neills club shop, Mike Hanley, Mick Kilduff, Gillian’s Beauty Salon, Louis Copeland, Occasions Hair Salon, Alan Brady Petraland,  Corina – Beautician, staff of Social Welfare Office Clondalkin, Frances Fitzgerald, Catherine Dardis, Gr8 Cakes and Bakes.

We were also delighted to receive a large quantity of ProU yogurt samples which were available for tasting on the night.

To round off the evening, Magician Ruairi O’Connor was on hand to leave everyone intrigued and perplexed, and well after midnight he was still confounding the audience with card and coin tricks, to name just a few.

As people left there was one question on the lips of many – will this be an annual event, which can interpreted as a successful and enjoyable evening !

We are delighted to say that we raised just over €1000 for a great cause.

The committee wish to thank all those who helped in the preparation for the night – Jackie Foley who oversaw the preparation of the room, which was admired by many; Mike Bowler for setting up the microphones, Ollie and John for helping with the lifting and carrying, Maeve and her team of bar staff, and the club executive for their support in the lead-up to the event.
