Well done to Dublin Minor Camogie players Laura Quinn, Aoife Mahon, Jessica McClelland and Siofra Byrne who had a fantastic win over Kilkenny, also well to the Lucan mentors involved Joe Leonard, Ollie Mahon and Georgina McClelland. Also preparation is stepping up with the Dublin minor footballers and well done to Matthew Dunne, Mark Lavin and Jake Rooney who played vs Galway ahead of the Snr game, their game ended in a draw also. Well done to Emmet O’Conghaile and the Dublin Snr footballers on securing a league final spot.

Again the weather played havoc with fixtures so not many games played but hard luck to the u12 footballers with all three teams losing but well done to all as it is great to see such big numbers competing, full Juvenile Report below.

Juvenile Football Report

A number of games were called off this weekend due to the recent rain and waterlogged pitches. All of the action was concentrated in CCC1.

In the U-11 all county Go Games blitz, Lucan and St. Brigids amalgamated all of their teams and played a four team blitz in Russell Park in Baltic conditions on Saturday morning. Despite the weather, the players enjoyed themselves and played out four very competitive and skilful games. One of the game reports follows below.

Lucan U-11 v St. Brigids.

Team:

Jack Keogh (0-02), Cian O’Gara (1-00), Cian McCormick, Cian Gavin (0-03), James O’Connell, Daniel Taffe (0-01), Conor Healy (0-02), Karl Quinn, Patrick Cosgrove (1-00), Michael O’Brien (2-04), Liam Whelan (0-02).

An excellent performance by this U-11 team on Saturday morning. Operating under Go Games rules, all of the players played in multiple positions throughout the game.  Jack Keogh made a few great saves in goal in the first half while the defence of Cian O’Gara, Cian McCormick, Cian Gavin and James O’Connell made some great blocks and clearances. In midfield, Daniel Taffe and Conor Healy worked extremely hard and got forward to kick a few scores as well. In the forwards, Michael O’Brien was in great scoring form ably assisted by Patrick Cosgrove, Karl Quinn and Liam Whelan. Overall, a great display and all of the practice is really paying off for this bunch of players.

In the U-12 Football A Blitz Group 1, Lucan fell to a very strong Castleknock team but fought bravely throughout. In the U-12 Football C Blitz Group 4, Lucan were defeated by an equally strong St. Vincents team.

In the U-12 Football E Blitz Group 1, Lucan lost out to lost to Naomh Mearnog by 2-09 to 2-01. Lucan played the first half with 9 players as one of the Lucan boys got injured. The second half started with 11 players and the overall performance improved and Lucan subsequently made a comeback and scored 2-01. Lucan’s goalkeeper was player of the match and made a brilliant penalty save in the second half.

Well done to all the teams competing at the weekend.
