Lotto
Last week there was no winner of the €19,800 lotto where the numbers were 1, 7, 18 and 22 . This week’s €20,000 lotto draw will be managed by Diarmuid Dawson and is sponsored by Coláiste Laichtín, Inis Oírr. Tickets can be purchased online, at the club, in Carey’s Newsagents, in Vesey Arms or Kenny’s Bar.

Access Road

The construction work has now commenced on the new access road, the entrance to the club is now up what was the Goodwins entrance. So please approach with caution. Turn after the garage but before the old club entrance then left into the carparks. We expect this access route to remain in place for up to 6 weeks but that timeframe could possibly last longer. Obviously we have no control of this. So thanking everyone for their patience. A mention to opposition teams might be no harm.

Full Juvenile Football Report

A busy weekend for some of our CCC2 teams this week.

In the U-13 Football Grading League Division 2, Lucan had a great win over Templogue Synge Street  by 4-12 to 3-4.

In the U-13 Football Grading League Division 6, another win was recorded over the same opposition on a score line of 7-12 to 2-3. It was a very good team performance with the lads working hard throughout, top scorers were Conor Greally with 2-1 and Dylan Hynes with 1-3.

The U-14A team played a Division 1 league game against Clontarf. It took place on the all weather facility on the Alfie Byrne road. Playing on a senior size pitch Lucan played some senior style football.  From the very start the teamwork and passing that the lads have worked on for the last few weeks was evident for all to see.  Lucan attacked at will and a superb first half performance saw the team  lead by 2-11 to 0-02.  The second half saw no letting up from Lucan, with great teamwork resulting in some great scores across the board.  Lucan kept on pressing for the entire second half and saw the game out with a tremendous score line of 8-17 to 1-05.  The entire squad keep on contributing in all aspects of the game.

In the U-15 Division 3 League, Lucan lost out to Naomh Olaf by 1-7 to 2-3 in bitterly cold conditions.

The U16A footballers had an historic away win against Castleknock in St Catherine’s Park. This Castleknock team hadn’t been beaten in the league since U13 level. Scorers for Lucan were Oisin Ryan (2-2), Colm Walsh (1-1), Oisin Twamley (0-2) and points each from Derek Cahill, Paul Tuite, Charlie Keher, Mark Gormley & Evin Dowling.  These players were ably assisted in a determined team performance by Finan Breen, Ben O’Toole, Cian Duffy, Aidan O’Neill, Eoin Power, Tiernan Mullen, Declan Lawlor and Brendan Ruddy with a solid performance from Alec Birnie in goal. The final score was 3-10 to 2-10.

The U16B's are competing in Division 4 this year and this is a step up of 2 divisions from last year. However, after a fine win against Ballyboden St. Endas last time out, they once again showed that they are capable of competing in that division by beating off a physical Naomh Fionnbarra side by 5-14 to 1-5. With 7 or 8 different scorers, the strength in depth of the team was seen and the speed of ball movement was fantastic throughout the game. Outstanding performances from everyone including Rory Mulhern, Ronan Carbury and again by stand in goal keeper Oscar Nolan have kept an unbeaten record stretching back to the latter part of last season.

However it was not without incident as a serious injury occurred to Fintan Ward. We wish him all the best in his recovery.

Well done to all the teams competing at the weekend.
