Junior Hurlers bow out of Championship

August 20, 2017

Junior Championship Quarterfinal: Lucan Sarsfields 0-14 St Finians (S) 1-15.

Lucan Junior As exited the championship with this disappointing loss to St Finians. Lucan started well and lead by 7 pts to 1 after 15 mins. However, St Finians fought back and began to take control around the middle third, and by half time the sides were level at 8pts each. St Finians were the hungrier team in the second half and got the crucial goal with about 15mins to go. Lucan had some late chances but were unable to convert them and St Finians were deserving winners in the end. Rob Lambert was Lucan's most consistent performer with Joey Byrne also showing well at times, while Alan O'Neill and Cathal O'Maolmhána were most prominent in the forwards.

Lucan Team/Scorers;

Commiserations to all the Lucan contingent involved with Dublin minor hurlers who lost to Cork in the All-Ireland semi final last Sunday. It was a brave effort by the young Dubs and they can be proud of their performances through the season. Well done to the Lucan players, management and backroom team members who represented the club with distinction.

Last weekend Lucan seniors defeated Eire Óg of Kildare in a challenge game on a scoreline of 0-23 to 2-15, while the Junior A's lost out by a point to Maynooth in a high scoring challenge match. Great to see Donal Flannery back in action after a long absence through injury.
