lucan sarsfields gaa club

Club Notes Monday May 15th

May 14, 2017

Last week there was no winner of the €3,400 lotto and the numbers were 6, 8, 10 and 23. This weeks €3,800 draw will be managed by Team Hugh McGonigle and will be sponsored by REA McDonald Auctioneers. Tickets can be purchased online, at the club, in Carey’s Newsagents, in Vesey Arms or Kenny’s Bar.

This weekend was mainly a football championship weekend. For Lucan it was a case of one out of four. Senior footballers championship came to an end at the hands of St Sylvesters, intermediates lost out to O’Tools in a relegation playoff (although confusion remains as to what that means), Junior A’s were the stars of the weekend, continuing their unbeaten run with a win over Liffey Gaels while the Junior B’s were unlucky with a one point loss to Thomas Davis.

A busy inter county weekend for some Lucan players. In hurling, Dublin Minors overcame Laois with the help of Luke Walsh, Ben Coffey and Emmet Allen along with Rob Ward, Andy Carroll and Herkus Sviglinskas. In Ladies football, following on Mia Dunne’s Leinster success with Dublin U14’s, Katie Wisdom and Laura Quinn helped Dublin’s U16’s to a Leinster title with a win over Meath.

Both minor hurling teams in league action this weekend and both tasted defeat. Minor A's lost their unbeaten league run going down by five points to Na Fianna and the Minor B's were well beaten by St Pats.
