Club Notes Tuesday Monday 3rd April

April 03, 2017

Féile season is well underway. This weekend it was Ladies Football. The A team were based in Clontarf but were unable to progress to the semi-finals despite a great effort against Kilmacud. We wish Mia Dunne a speedy recovery from injury. The B team were in Garristown and did progress to a semifinal in St Monicas. Success there against Croí Ro Naofa gave them a Sunday final slot against Garristown. Despite Lucan’s 5-point half time lead Garristown came out on top. Well done to all and thanks for the huge support shown.

Saturday nights Dinner Dance was a huge success. Good food, great music, superb venue. Our thanks to the organisers and all the helpers (setup and cleanup). With the long evenings it started in daylight and for some it finished so! Congratulations to Meave Maguire who was presented with the Club Presidents Prize for 2017 at the Dinner Dance.

Senior Football lost away to Na Fianna, the next league fixture is on the 24/5 at home to St Brigids. ln championship their first game will be against UCD in Monastery Rd on 21/4.

Mixed fortunes for our minor hurling teams in the league on a great morning for hurling.

The Minor As had a great win over old rivals Ballyboden, on a score line of 2-16 to 0-9. An early goal from a penalty expertly dispatched by Emmet Allen set Lucan on their way and they never looked back, hurling really well throughout. Ben Coffey lead the forward line superbly, ably supported by Emmet Allen and Andy Carroll. Eoghan Reynolds and Luke Walsh shone in a dominant defence and Herkus Sviglinskas dominated in midfield. Scorers B Coffey 1-5, E Allen 1-5 (1-0 pen, 0-2f) A Carroll 0-2, H Sviglinskas 0-2, L Walsh & A Murphy 0-1 each.

Meanwhile our Minor Bs had a difficult morning losing out to Good Counsel on a score of 6-16 to 1-6.
Lucan had a poor start with Good Council racking up the scores early in the game. Midway through the first half a couple of switches of position helped for a while and Lucan got a couple of scores back to ease the pain. Eoghan Gately put in great work in the centre-half back positions and the midfield pairing of Joe Lakes and Cillian Hogan worked well. Jemin Joseph was busy in goal. Lucan Scorers Alex Bourke 1-0, Joe Lakes & Shaun Keegan 0-2 each, Cillian Hogan and Michael Doyle 0-1 each.
