St Patricks Day was hugely entertain day for junior, senior and social members. It all began at 3pm with the U9’s of all codes, representing the club in the Lucan Parade. /afterwards, a well attended bar was entertained by the duo of “Shindig” while being fed by a BBQ provided as a féile fundraiser. A really good day and our thanks to all the organisers.

A very good weekends hurling with 7 wins out of 8 fixtures for our CCC2 teams The one reversal was a hard fought game for the U13 second team in Division 3 , a division where they are the only second team. A great win for U13 Div 1 over in Crokes, a result that leaves them siting top after two games . Two great wins for the U14 teams overcoming teams that they both lost to last year. The U14 Division 1 team ran out two point winners after being 9 down at half-time against a Crokes team that finished second in Division 1 last year. The two U15 teams recorded victories on Sunday morning, carrying on where they left off in 2016. While the two U16 teams recorded good results over Castleknock and Kilmacud Crokes on Saturday afternoon. (More Detail reports available on etc Club website). Full report available in PDF format below in this page.

A very good win to keep the great start to the season rolling along, but we were lucky today. Against stronger opposition ahead, we won't be able to live with half a dozen crying off on the morning of a game!! Rampant tummy bug in Lucan?
We were even lucky when we reached Clontarf, as Scoil started strongly. From the throw in they attacked & their full forward skipped in ahead of Conor for an opening minute goal. Lucan were stung into action, but a quick reply from Gavin, was followed by some poor shot selection, as chances went wide & fell short. Scoil broke out & got a point, & then won a mark from our kickout, 2 quick passes & the Scoil full forward was able to tap in a simple goal. 7 v 1 down after 10mins!! Mark picked up a bang to his knee. Darren came on & was repeatedly the last man standing for us in defence. Things not looking so good, but Lucan found their mojo. 4-05 without reply in the 2nd quarter turned the game on its head. Rob & Par plundered a goal each in 3mins. Back on level terms, the lads found the range with 5pts, before Martin & Rob finished with 2 more goals.
Niall came on for the hard working Collie. Lucan may have felt it was all over, but Scoil came out fighting, & 1-02, seemed to indicate a revival. Lucan were struggling to out of their half, & it was just as well that Scoil were as wasteful as we had been earlier. Finally we broke forward & a fine passing move was finished by Gav with a green flag. If that didn't deflate Scoil, then the rather harsh red card on 46m certainly did.
GFay was possibly the most unselfish player as he repeatedly carried the ball into the other half, but sought out others to enjoy the glory of scoring. He's such a shy boy!! In front of him, another shy boy, Johnny, snaffled up a huge amount of ball throughout, & when he broke forward near the end, exchanged passes with Paul, he was set fair to crown his display with a great team score. Some of the management are still hoping the ball will return on the next tide!
Conor's name wasn't on list of scorers but was at the top of the assists. Points from Stephen, David & Rob saw out the win.

Both minor hurling teams were in league action this weekend. Minor A's had a good win over Cuala while Minor B's lost out to St Vincent's.
MHL1. Lucan Sarsfields 1-13 Cuala 0-8.
Lucan minor A's followed up their opening round league win with another good success against Cuala. Lucan started well and had an early goal from Alan Murphy. Andy Carroll was tormenting the Cuala full back line and Emmet Allen converted well from both frees and play. Cuala had many wides from placed balls and should have been closer than the 6 point deficit at half time. Cuala started better in the second half and were on top for about 10minutes before scores from timely substitutes Ciaran Keane and Oisin O'Brien steadied the Lucan ship. Lucan got on top again and finished comfortable winners. Eddie Connnolly was prominent in an impressive back line. Anto McNulty worked hard in midfield while Cian McHugh along with Carroll and Allen were the pick of the forwards.
Lucan scorers: E Allen 0-7 (0-5f), A Murphy 1-0, A Carroll & C McHugh 0-2 each. O O'Brien & C Keane 0-1 each.
MHL4. St. Vincent's 4-15 Lucan Sarsfields 2-11.
Lucan didn't take sufficient advantage of the wind in an evenly contested first half and then struggled against the elements in the second. Michael Doyle lead the scoring with a tally of 1-8 while Alex Bourke was the other goal scorer. Jemin Joseph made some excellent saves in goals behind a back line that fought hard throughout.
Lucan scorers M Doyle 1-8, A Bourke 1-0, C Hogan, E Gately, J Lakes 0-1 each.
