Lucan Sarsfields Club Notes Monday 19th of December 2016
December 18, 2016
Christmas Draw is well underway and thanks to those who answered the call for early sales. This years draw has a €2,000 first prize and we need maximum support. Draw takes place this Thursday 22nd of December. All welcome on the night.
Senior Football are to get a new manager for 2017. Gordon Ward, who’s home club is St. Kevin's Kildare takes on the role. Gordon has extensive coaching experience with DIT, St Pereguines and most recently with Wolf Tones, and comes well qualified with a degree in strength and conditioning.
Ladies Football is enjoying huge growth within the club. We are delighted that Paul Quinn has agreed to take over the senior Ladies Football team. Hopefully we will be able to transition so much success at juvenile level through to senior and keep players active in the game. We wish Paul and the teams every success.
Plans are well underway for events on St Stephens day. This year Ladies will kick things off with a game at 2pm. Senior football v Senior Hurling (or is it married v single?) will follow at 2:45pm. Following that, there will be lots of food and entertainment in the (’til late) Bar.
Interested in Hurling with Lucan Sarsfields? Have you recently moved to Dublin and particularly the Lucan or surrounding area or do you know anyone who has. Are you looking to transfer / play hurling with a top hurling club?. If so we would love to hear from you . We field teams in Division 2, 4 and 8. Please contact the clubs hurling co-ordinator Joe Whyte on 086 8062480. I can help with the the transfer process.
South Dublin County Council wishes to advise that Pitches will re-open weekend of 14th/15th January 2017.
On the Camogie front, congratulations to Laura Quinn on receiving Player Of The Year for Dublin Camogie 2016.
Ladies football is showing its strength with both Katie Wisdom and Laura Quinn being selected to represent Dublin U16 for 2017.
The Cupla Focal club is in action on Monday nights 8pm.
Set Dancing is back on Wednesday nights while the Bingo continues every Wednesday evening at 8:30pm with free tea/coffee.
Club Shop closes on Saturday next until the end of January. Any pre-orders not collected by then will be put back on the shop floor on the Long Mile Road. Note that despite demand there are no 13-14yr old skinny track suits available until February.
There was no winner of this weeks €17,500 lotto where the numbers were 2, 5, 11 and 13. This weeks sponsor was O’Grady Hearing Care and next weeks €18,000 draw will be managed by Team Hugh McGonigle. Tickets can be purchased online, at the club, in Carey’s Newsagents or in Vesey Arms or Kenny’s Bar.
The online process for purchasing lotto tickets is now much simplified and can be accessed from www.lucansarsfields.ie
