Message from Club Chairman

October 02, 2016

A Chara

I hope this email/note finds you all well and ready for October 2016.

October is the busiest month in our club's life with championships in full swing , leagues concluding and thoughts starting to head for 2017. Our already busy calendar steps up about 3 or 4 notches in October , with important matches coming at what feels like a daily rate.

We are still in the mix on three fronts in Senior Championships, with our Ladies Football teams already in Cup Finals and our minor teams are either in play or about to start Championship. Across our juvenile wing , we are at the concluding end of leagues with many teams pushing for honours and others in finals over the coming weeks. Every bit of support for these teams is appreciated.

This October has the exciting addition of the Rock the Lock Festival - a 3-day music festival over the bank holiday weekend. This is both an exciting social event and our main fundraiser for 2016. More details available at http://www.lucansarsfields.ie/ .

It could be a great October for the winner of our club lotto - currently at a jackpot of €12K - surely worth a flutter. Tickets available in the club bar and other outlets or play on-line at http://www.lucansarsfields.ie/

This Saturday also sees our new Games Promotions Officer (David Moran) start and our current GPO and fellow club member Johnny McCaffrey move on to pastures new. We wish Johnny all the best and extend a big welcome to David.

At this stage of the year , we have seen an 8% increase in membership numbers over last year, with over 2800 members. We are competing at the highest level at all codes with the equally heartening fact that we are fielding competitive second teams at all ages and codes. We are a huge organisation - let's show that we are !

What can you do to support your clubs efforts in October

  • Get out and support our teams across all codes and grades...it's an exciting time on the games front. This is what we are about - achieving sporting success and promoting participation !
  • Have a little flutter on the Lotto - you never know it could be you !
  • Adopt a Club first approach - success across all codes and events will come for us all if we take this approach !
  • Get out and enjoy one, two or three nights of the Rock the Lock festivals - there's something for everyone over the three days !
  • Promote Rock the Lock through your own social media or in conversation with friends and family - it goes without saying this event is important to our fundraising activities !
  • Volunteer for at least one day at Rock the Lock - every volunteer will help in ensuring its a success on a social and fundraising front !
