Lucan Sarsfields Club Notes Monday 7th March 2016

March 06, 2016

Despite all codes being in full swing, the club seemed eerily quiet this weekend, especially on Sunday. Maybe it was all the away games, or the lack of matches due to pitch closures. But no, it was all down to Mothers Day. Clearly all the Mammies were off being pampered! Bank it lads, Fathers Day is a few months away yet.

The Senior Hurlers had their first Dublin League outing on Sunday but came up short against Ballinteer St Johns 1-11 to 0-08.

All the action for the Senior Footballers was off the pitch with weddings and stag parties. Lets hope they kept some of their scoring in reserve for Ballymun next weekend.

The 2016 Championship draws see the senior footballers against Round Towers Clondalkin in the first round while Lucans Hurling Round One Pool includes O’Tools, Na Fianna and Stanta. Dates yet to be set. We’re hoping for good outcomes all-round.

If there are past or present Mentors out there with keys (dressing rooms, lock-ups, net stores, car parks etc) and no longer require them, can they please return them to the club. For those that have lower car park keys in particular, please do use them, especially on Saturday/Sunday mornings.

Hard luck on St Joseph's College ‘Joeys’, loosing out to Scoil na Trionoide Naofa, Doon, County Limerick in the Senior B Schools All Ireland Final in Nenagh at the weekend. Thanks to all the supporters that travelled.

Details for the Easter Camps (7-11yrs) running from March 29th-31st, and School of Excellence (12-14yrs) from 21st-24th March are announced and entry is available on the website or via any team mentor.

The Easter pool competition continues on 10/3 and 16/3 culminating in the final on 24/3.

Kev Events coming up…Saturday 12th of March, Rory’s Stories - Live Show. Tickets available at the bar. St Patricks Day is not far away and (as you may have seen from the posters) a big day is in store at the club.

Golf Society AGM is on March 8th at 8pm.

The ever popular Cúpla Focal Club continues on Monday night. Eight O’Clock for the novices, nine for the more experienced speakers.

Bingo on Wednesday 9th March with the €450 jackpot it will be popular.

Set dancing continues in the function room on Wednesday at 8:30pm, and the 25-Card Drive continues on Friday Night at 9pm, new participants are always welcome.

There was no winner of this week’s €2,000 Lotto draw, numbers were 4, 6, 19 and 20. Lotto sponsor was Henley Forklift Group. Next week’s jackpot is €2,500, and the draw will be managed by team Frank Fleming Sunday night.

This week will (hopefully) see the publication of the Club’s New Strategic Plan, keep an eye out.
